Brandon Sach

For Brandon Sach, bowling was never something he simply discovered. It was part of the family long before he was old enough to understand what the game could become.

Brandon began bowling at roughly two or three years old, growing up surrounded by the sport on both sides of his family. The Sach family and the Chicolo family each had deep ties to bowling, giving Brandon an early connection to the lanes that was rooted as much in family and community as it was in competition.

At the center of that foundation was his father, Bobby Sach.

A Hall of Fame bowler and one of Brandon's most important influences in the game, Bobby provided an example of what it meant to compete, respect the sport, and carry yourself the right way on the lanes. Brandon bowled junior leagues and tournaments throughout the Tri-State area as a young bowler, but the relationship with his father took on another dimension when Brandon was around 19 years old and the two began competing together regularly in adult leagues and tournaments.

For approximately the next 12 years, father and son shared the competitive side of bowling together.

That experience became a major part of Brandon's identity in the sport. He was not simply following in his father's footsteps he was eventually standing beside him, competing with him, and building his own reputation within the same bowling community.

Brandon went on to develop into an accomplished competitor in his own right, recording 22 career 300 games, 15 career 800 series, and a career-high average of 242.

He became a fixture in highly competitive leagues and side-action environments, earning a reputation for winning more than his share of league titles, brackets, and weekly action. One of his most significant individual tournament accomplishments came in 2021, when Brandon finished runner-up in the Staten Island Singles Classic.

But Brandon's bowling story was developing somewhere else at the same time behind the lanes.

While working at Showplace Bowling Center, Brandon began learning the highly specialized mechanical side of the bowling industry under the guidance of Vinny D'Ambrosio III, Tommy Reno, and Sal Testa.

As an apprentice mechanic, he learned far more than how to repair a machine when something broke. He developed the diagnostic thinking, preventative-maintenance discipline, mechanical instincts, and operational standards required to keep an entire bowling facility functioning properly.

That education eventually became a profession.

Today, Brandon is the Owner and Operator of Set The Standard Bowling LLC, a traveling bowling-center mechanical service business supporting approximately 15 bowling centers across 10 states.

Through Set The Standard, Brandon has transformed the knowledge passed down to him into an independent operation serving bowling proprietors across a significant geographic footprint.

His next chapter pushes that responsibility even further.

Beginning this fall, Brandon is taking over as Facility Manager and Head Mechanic of New Victory Lanes in Mooresville, North Carolina, putting him in a leadership position responsible for the facility, its mechanical operation, and the standards behind the scenes that bowlers rarely see but depend on every time they step onto the approach.

Through all of that development, Vinny remained part of Brandon's competitive journey as well.

Brandon and Vinny D'Ambrosio III were teammates for approximately five years, giving their relationship a different dynamic than a traditional coach-and-student relationship. They competed together, shared league environments, and spent years around one another both on the lanes and inside the operation of the bowling center.

While Brandon refined his mechanical craft under Vinny, Tommy Reno, and Sal Testa, Vinny also continued helping him sharpen his competitive game.

That makes Brandon's place within The VD3 Experience especially meaningful.

His story brings together nearly every part of what the brand is trying to preserve.

There is the family legacy of the Sachs and Chicolos.

There is the influence of his Hall of Fame father, Bobby Sach.

There is the apprenticeship and bowling-center knowledge passed along by Vinny D'Ambrosio III, Tommy Reno, and Sal Testa.

There are the years Brandon and Vinny spent as teammates.

And now there is Brandon's own contribution to the next chapter of the bowling industry through Set The Standard Bowling LLC and his leadership at New Victory Lanes.

As a VD3 Legacy Member, Brandon represents something larger than an impressive scoring résumé.

He represents how bowling knowledge gets passed from one generation to another from family, to mentors, to teammates, to an independent career within the sport itself.

Brandon grew up inside bowling.

Now he is helping keep bowling running.
